Unit 5: Robots

Students will utilize their coding skills to build and program robots to compete in a variety of activities.

1. Check Lego Parts Students will check that the container they are assigned has all the necessary Lego Parts. After this stage, the students are responsible for all missing parts.

2. Assembling & "Hand Coding" Your EV3 Students will begin to build their EV3 robots and in the process learn how to "Hand Code"   it and all of the sensors.

3. Challenge #1: The Maze Students must Hand Code their Robots (Do not use your computer for this project) to successfully cross the board through a maze using all the sensors being provided them.

4. "Computer Coding" Your EV3

Students will use their Computers to Program their robots using the “Lego Mindstorms Education EV3” App. on their computers.

5. Challenge #2: Parking Lot Students must use their computers to write a code that will navigate their robots between 4 parking slots using sensors.The sensors the students will rely upon are: 1. Color 2.Gyroscope.

6. Challenge #3: "Robot Soccer:" Students will use their computers to program their robots to push more balls off the soccer court than their opponents.

7. Challenge #4: "Battle Royale: Students will use their smart phones and/or ipads in order to direct their robots to battle and immobilize their opponents robots on the class court. The last remaining robot that is mobile and in-bounds wins.
