Careers In Tech
Throughout the course, students will get to visit a number of companies in the Tech World, will be visited by Tech speakers from a broad range of occupations, acquire a Tech Certification, have the opportunity to be awarded an internship with the SHUSD IT Dept. and practice interviewing skills.
Topic
Lesson
Computer History Museum .
- Students experience both the past and future of Technology at the Computer History Museum.
- Students take part in a workshop presented by Google in which they learn the "Softskills" that Google is looking for when they hire employees.
NASA
- Every 30 minutes, the students rotate through different NASA departments meeting their team leaders and experiencing the wide variety of projects that are taking place at NASA.
Industry Recognized Certifications
- Students can take a test that will allow them to acquire an Industry Recognized Certification in Computer Science. You Science Login / ECS Certification Prep. / CSP Certification Prep.
SHUSD I.T. Internships
- Students can apply and be awarded an internship with the S.H.U.S.D. IT Department where they will acquire a broad range of hard and soft skills.
Guest Speaker Series
- Tech leaders from a variety of fields visit the students and tell them about growing up, college, what they do and advice (Every Friday for six weeks in the Spring).. (Gradesheet)
Applying For A Job
Students practice writing a Cover Letter & Resume and then practice taking a Mock Interview.
